We correct errors of fact promptly and in the open. Silent editing of a published claim is not permitted.
How corrections work
When we get a fact wrong, we amend the article and append a dated correction note at its foot describing what was wrong and what it now says. The note stays permanently. Minor changes that do not alter meaning — a typo, a broken link — are made without a note.
Substantial revisions
When new information materially changes an article’s conclusions, we mark the piece as updated, date the update, and explain what changed. We do not quietly re-date old work to make it appear current.
Requesting a correction
Write to the desk via our contact page. Include the article, the specific passage, and the evidence. We reply to every correction request, including those we decline, and we say why.
